CEEI does a lot and needs your help!

Thousands of free flowing polluted streams migrate through our forests, grazing lands, and agricultural communities. These streams are one of the most important indicators of habitat health for all sorts of wild life as well as humans. It's so important that everyone be aware of their status. Just in the past 30 years it is becoming apparent that some of these habitat indicators are accepted as major factors that effect human health. To this end, CEEI will enter this new arena with the facts that cannot be disputed with another new web site soon.

CEEI is further documenting all the 21840 polluted streams in the United States. The format on the web site is organized for the 12,000 high schools and 3400 colleges and universities as a classroom lesson. CEEI also sees itself as a mentor and major resource for the thousands of environmental and restoration organizations in the United States and the public at large. (The media has not printed a state or county list of these polluted streams in 30 years since the Clean Water Act (CWA) was signed by President Nixon. Many of these streams are known to carry giardia, as well as all sorts of chemicals and nutrients. Under the CWA law, the public is supposed to be notified but isn't.)

CEEI is now developing another web-site that will document all the threatened, endangered and extinct species (over 100 a day are now going extinct according to the United Nations Environmental Programme).

You can help with a membership donation that is tax deductible (no amount is too small). You also can become active in the CEEI "Corps".

ALL CEEI'S GOALS ARE DOABLE IF YOU HELP

1. You can call you local school district, high schools and universities. Make sure you talk to Environmental Studies teachers, or the Deans of Science and Education. Tell them about the CEEI web site as a resource for their classes at www.apsrs.org.

2 You can call your local news paper. Ask them to run in papers those 303d streams that are listed on this web site that are in your county. (Call your state department of environmental quality. Ask them to make a county list that has the state number, name, water-shed, and reasons for being listed. See links for state addresses. Make sure that they publish it. You can contact the director at ceei@cox-internet.com and send a copy of your county streams as well and we will publish it also.

3. If you want to adopt a stream through your company, organization, church, or school, CEEI can advise on how to raise the money and create a plan for stream restoration for your organization. E-MAIL CEEI Director at ceei@cox-internet.com .

4. Membership and a tax deductible donation. You can become a member of CEEI's Restoration Corps. You can get our newsletter on the stream status information and CEEI will give you a tax deduction for your membership donation.

5. The CEEI web site has been nominated twice as the most important environmental web site the United States! One is for Sunset Magazine Award. The other is for the United Nations Environmental Programme Global 500 award. CEEI has been nominated again for the UN 2003 "Champions of the Earth Award".
